In 1989, I decided to open an organization that would be a reservoir of cultural nourishment for the minds of children of African descent. By using the arts to build cultural awareness, pride, and heightened self worth, we believed we could encourage an unshakable outcome of collective dignity, no matter the obstacle.
This book is a representation of the amazing examples of what a united community can achieve together with a true sense of shared leadership coupled with powerful respect for our youth and elders.
